Welcome to our Bespoke Cakes Terms & Conditions. Here, you’ll find important information regarding our custom cake services, including order details, payment policies, and delivery guidelines. Please read these terms carefully to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience when ordering your personalized cake from Afters Treats & Eats.

Terms & Conditions:

 

Ordering and Lead Time:

  • All orders require a lead time of 2-3 weeks; a minimum of 5 days is essential. We can sometimes accommodate shorter lead times, depending on existing bookings and events close to your order date. The more lead time you provide, the better the chances of securing your booking.

 

Order Acceptance:

  • We reserve the right to decline orders that we cannot accommodate due to design complexity, booking availability, budget constraints, delivery scheduling, or insufficient notice.

 

Payment:

  • Deposit and Cancellation:

    • A 50% deposit is due upon placement of the order.
    • The balance is due one week before delivery. Work will only commence once full payment is received. Note that some preparations start well in advance.
    • Deposits are non-refundable.
    • No refunds will be issued for orders cancelled within one week of the event.
  • Small or Late Orders:

    • For orders less than R1500 or late orders, full payment is required upon receipt of the invoice.

 

Delivery & Collection:

  • Collection:

    • An agreement must be reached regarding the time of collection. If the order is not collected within 30 minutes of the agreed time, a new collection time or date must be arranged.
    • Cakes are best served within 48 hours of collection. The risk transfers to the client once the cake is handed over.
    • We are not responsible for any damages or deterioration of the cake due to unfavourable conditions during transport or storage.
  • Delivery:

    • Full details of the date, venue, and time of delivery must be provided.
    • Delivery times are accommodated as best as our schedule allows. Delivery charges are tiered based on distance from our premises in Linden and are subject to change. We reserve the right to deny delivery based on distance and the quoted cake amount. While the delivery date is guaranteed, the exact time is not.
    • A picture will be taken of the cake at delivery, whether set up or handed over to event staff.
    • We are not responsible for any damages or deterioration due to unfavourable conditions at the venue. This includes adverse weather conditions, proximity to heat sources, etc.
    • Venue staff will be instructed on any setup instructions which should be adhered to. Responsibility is transferred to the venue and ultimately to you as the client once these instructions are provided.

 

Non-Edible Decorations, Fresh Flowers, Foliage, and Structure:

  • Our cakes may include non-edible elements such as sugar flowers, dowels, cake boards, and toppers. While we strive to provide detailed instructions, we cannot always instruct every client on these practices.
  • Fresh flowers and foliage used are generally not edible, except for certain items like dried rose petals and small pansies. Larger flowers are not edible.
  • We cannot guarantee the exact type, colour, or replication of flowers shown in images, but we will do our best to match them with available seasonal flowers.
  • Clients are encouraged to source flowers through a florist to ensure satisfaction with the floral choices.

 

Other Terms & Conditions:

  • If our products are used in photoshoots or product displays, we reserve the rights to these images and brand recognition.
  • Designs may not be changed or damaged during styled photoshoots or published without consent.
  • Our kitchen is not nut/egg/allergy-free. While we take precautions, we cannot guarantee the absence of allergens. Our products are made in an environment that contains nuts, dairy, eggs, gluten, and soya.
  • Advice and recommendations will be given on the best before date and storage of the cake. Most cakes can be successfully stored in airtight containers and refrigerated.
  • No two cakes will ever be identical.
  • Cakes should be stored in the refrigerator until 1 hour before serving to bring them to room temperature. Direct sunlight should be avoided.
  • We do not take responsibility for any spelling or detail errors once the cake has been signed off on.
  • Note that different sponges and fillings are made with different recipes, so textures and flavours will vary.
  • Should the cake not meet expectations, we require immediate notification upon collection or delivery, or evidence of the complaint in a personal meeting to determine if any refund is applicable.
